Hi Rail,

Seem's odd there uninstalling. To confirm we are reading it correctly the routes concerned have been copied to a laptop?

The laptop, what is the operating system used:- xp, vista or windows 7? If it's these, content should save ok.

If it's the new windows 8 then you might need to use administrator level for content to save/modify etc. Not sure if trainz2009 is configured for windows 8.

Hi Chris,
Yes I made the route (well started) on a computer then transfered the CDPs over to my laptop.
Laptop: windows 7
Computer: windows xp

Can't see what the problem might be.

Just one thought though, when did you purchase the 2009 disc? Does the back of the box specs section say suitable for windows 7?

Sounds like a classic case of not running Trainz as administrator, that's Run as admin not run from Admin account, 2009 works in Win7 here with no problems other than having to run as admin on my Win7 HP machine.

Just to check, Trainz in Win7 HP or in some cases if it's installed in program files, needs to be run administrator, this is not run from an admin account which is now pretty much worthless in Win7 upwards but right Click Run this program as administrator or set it up in the shortcuts Properties, Compatibility tab, run as administrator.

What happens is due to write restrictions in Program Files imposed by Microsoft, Trainz can't write changes to disk unless you give it a higher permission.

Agree with you there Clam.

Thats what I suspected, hence my questions to rail.

Had that same problem years ago when trying to run an original Auran 2006 disk in Vista, had to run it in admistrator level for it to save and modify.

Hi, thanks. Will try run as administrator and see if the installed content reappears. Just updated to SP4, so will see if this has a difference.

Got a error message saying DirectX is not up to date, closed it and then relaunched trainz. All content is there and the route works great :) Don't know how this happened, maybe patching to SP4 helped. But thanks for the help :)

Try running on OpenGL if you get the DX errors again ;)

Right, now I have another problem :roll: - something like, "Session was saved but route cannot be added to the database, you can complete this action in Content Manager". Looked around the web and found lots of SP4 problem threads but couldn't find the answer. Anyone else had this problem? Starting to think now's a good time to update to Trainz 12 :D

If I read that properly, go into CMP and I think you'll find the route is probably "open for Edit". Re commit it and see what happens.

Probably too late now, I clicked "Repair" on the Uninstall and Repair section in control panel, and then it uninstalled Trainz :?
Will just get Trainz 10 now, not that expensive on Amazon.

Trainz seems to have un-installed all downloaded content. :?

Hi all,
Just a quick question, how do you import a route from the Trainz backup folders? My computer automatically updated and when it switched on again it had erased all the downloaded content on Trainz and restored it to when I had first installed it with some items from a route I had deleted a long time ago. Not sure if I should make a new thread for this.
